A clear answer about cost needs the service, practitioner and clinic location. Confirm those three details before comparing prices or checking benefits.
Ask for the full appointment fee
Ask whether the first visit and follow-up visits have different prices and durations. Clarify whether any proposed herbal products or other services are charged separately. Request the current cancellation policy before you confirm an appointment.
Check the exact insurance details
Ask your insurer whether acupuncture is covered for your situation and whether the specific practitioner and location participate. Ask about deductibles, copays, visit limits, referral requirements and prior authorization. Coverage at one location should not be assumed to apply at another.
If you plan to pay directly
Ask for the self-pay fee and the accepted payment methods. If you hope to seek reimbursement, ask your insurer what documentation it needs and ask the clinic whether it can provide that documentation. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.
